Expressing similarity and difference
Here are some ways of expressing similarity:
A sail is (very) similar to /
(a lot / a little / very much) like an aircraft wing. The horizontal wings resemble
the wings on a racing car. Just as / In the same way as airflow pushes a

.
Here are some ways of expressing difference:
Wind powered speed
records are (completely) unlike / different from normal speed records. The
Greenbird uses a solid sail instead of a canvas one.
We can combine similarities and differences, as in the following
examples:
The Greenbird is very much like a sailboat, but / except that it uses
wings instead of sails. The vertical wing is like a boat's sail, but made of a
composite instead of canvas.
